Project Description

As a partner in the European project TASTE (Transformative Approaches for Sustainable Food in Tourism), the company 5 START d.o.o. developed an innovative tourism concept titled Wild.Green.Magic.Culinary – From Cable Car Heights to Forest Dining Nights. This concept integrates sustainable gastronomy, local culinary heritage, the natural environment of Pohorje, and a modern tourism experience.

The project is founded on the belief that sustainable food systems can significantly contribute to the development of high-quality tourism while simultaneously supporting local producers, reducing environmental impact, and offering guests authentic, unforgettable experiences.

As part of the project, we analyzed existing business processes, conducted a sustainability self-assessment based on European indicators, developed a new sustainable tourism product, and created a best-practice model that was selected for inclusion in the international publication TASTE Book of Best Practices.

The project places special emphasis on collaborating with local food producers, using seasonal ingredients, reducing food waste, managing resources responsibly, and creating a holistic tourism experience that combines gastronomy, wellness, and the natural assets of Pohorje.

The project represents a significant step in the further development of sustainable tourism in Pohorje and strengthens the destination’s competitiveness through innovative, environmentally responsible, and locally focused tourism products.

The Wild. Green. Magic. Culinary Experience was developed with financial support from the TASTE project (Transformative Approaches for Sustainable Food in Tourism) through the activities of RRA Podravje – Maribor, the project’s Slovenian partner.

The TASTE project fosters the development of sustainable and innovative tourism solutions and supports small and medium-sized enterprises in creating new tourism products and business models. The Go Green, Get Digital, Be Resilient program gave rise to the Wild. Green. Magic. Culinary Experience—a new premium culinary offering in the Pohorje region that combines local cuisine, sustainability, digital content, and a unique natural setting.
