Pohorje in the summer

Welcome to the untouched nature just above the city. A natural oasis with four forests and the Šumik primeval forest, clearings and pastures, clean and drinkable Pohorje waters, waterfalls and peat bogs with lakes, the largest butterfly in Europe and other valuable animal species, the only silicate mountain range in our country. All these are the natural specialties of Pohorje that delight both nature lovers and experts.

In addition to natural attractions, visitors to Maribor Pohorje can enjoy a whole range of activities, from hiking, mountain and e-bike cycling, downhill cycling, adrenaline experiences, such as a ride on the PohorJet summer sleigh or a wonderful panoramic ride on the gondola – the Pohorje Vzpenjača, which takes visitors to Pohorje to the foot of the mountain range, to the slopes of the city of Maribor, the city of the oldest vine in the world.

Pohorje is beautiful in all seasons, especially in spring, fresh summer and colorful autumn, when nature gifts us with chestnuts and delicious mushrooms. In summer, escape the city heat and set off on the Bolfenk Energy Trail, the entrance to which is next to the Wellness & Spa Hotel Bolfenk****, Hočko Pohorje 133, 2208 Pohorje. For children in Pohorje, there are playgrounds available within the Bolfenk adventure park, a smaller motor park is located near the upper station of the Vzpenjača cable car, as well as Areh, where you can find a Disc Golf course.
